Neethlingshof pays it forward on Heritage Day

For many South Africans, Heritage Day is a day about gathering friends and family for a braai and to share experiences about life in our country.

No wonder National Braai Day also falls on September 24! However, this year you don’t have to light your own fire; you can simply bring the whole family to Neethlingshof, that beautifully preserved estate outside Stellenbosch, where they will do it all for you.

And you will be serving a good cause at the same time for Neethlingshof is joining forces with the Stellenbosch branch of the volunteer organisation Serve the City in hosting a fundraiser braai for the benefit of one of the surrounding poverty-stricken areas.

The beneficiaries of the present fundraising efforts are the people of Enkanini, one of the extensions of Kayamandi, the black township on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. Enkanini has some 6 000 inhabitants, many of them without jobs, and the members of Serve the City this past year have been working to provide them with basic necessities, especially for the children.

You can assist them in this task by coming, with your friends and families, to Neethlingshof where you will be richly rewarded. A ticket of R55 (R35 of that goes to Serve the City) buys you a glass of one of the estate’s delicious wines and a roosterkoek with a large, succulent piece of boerewors. Cooldrinks will be available for the kids.

At the event you can also buy a bottle of 2010 Malbec for R51, 15% less than the normal price of R60.

Date: Saturday, 24 September
Time: 11h00 to 16h00
Place: Neethlingshof Wine Estate, Stellenbosch
